1.      INTENTION AS A TOOL

It’s hard to believe that simply harnessing our random thoughts and mental meanderings could be used to create better situations in our lives and lead us to greater understanding of ourselves, and others. But it’s true…and it WORKS.

By focusing on what you’d like to achieve—whether it’s in a relationship, a work situation, or a personal goal for self-transformation—you are harnessing INTENTION, and unleashing a powerful force. Basically, you’re telling the Universe what you’d like to see happen in your life. The clearer your vision, the more likely you’ll be able to achieve it.

Does this approach guarantee success? Of course not—the free will of others to accept or reject your intention still exists. But using your intention wisely can lead you to make decisions on a regular basis that are in keeping with that dreams you intend to make real in your life. It enhances the chances of success.

Here are a few ways to try the power of intention:

*In the workplace, before a regular meeting or interaction that you usually find stressful or unproductive, take a moment to mentally repeat the following (or something similar): I intend to be clear in my communication, calm in my approach, and centered in my ability to hear others clearly and calmly.

*Choose an important personal relationship in which seems to have shifted. Perhaps the “magic” is missing in a romantic partnership, or an old friend and you seem to be drifting apart. Use the power of your intention to transform things by stating your intention, which might go something like this: I intend that (name), whom I care about so much, sense my interest in transforming this relationship to one which serves us both on emotional, spiritual, and (if appropriate) physical levels. I send them love and accept their love in return.

By declaring your intention, and stating it clearly and regularly, you’ll find that your interactions with others will improve. Even if they don’t change, YOU WILL!

2.  RESEARCH PROJECTS

Once a researcher, always a researcher. I guess it all started when I couldn’t stop asking “why?” when I was about 3. Many years, and an MBA, M.Ed., and Ph.D. later, and I’m STILL asking questions…and researching answers.

Currently, I’m seeking information, in the form of personal accounts, for two active research projects. Your privacy will be protected, of course, if you participate. Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you, or others whom you may wish to share these requests for study participants.

*Psychic kids*: I’m seeking stories about children who’ve displayed unusual knowledge or talent for “knowing” things they couldn’t have known by ordinary means. Examples are talking about deceased loved ones they never knew, precognition, and discussing a life before this one. Of course, there are lots of ways “psychic kids” show us their uniqueness…so if you know one (or WERE one), please write to me at lauren@drlauren.com with details.

*Mediumship experiences*: The current popularity of mediumship is growing even more strongly. The Sixth Sense and the new TV program The Others feature mediumship, which is communication with the deceased. They’re using frightening rather than enlightening imagery and story lines, so that’s why I’m looking for your experiences with ACTUAL MEDIUMS you may have consulted. What was the session like? Why did you choose to go? How did you know the medium was “legitimate”? How has it changed your thinking to have consulted a medium? Feel free to submit your accounts to me at Lauren@drlauren.com (Names of mediums are not required, but if you do include them, I may add them to a reference section if this material is published).

THANK YOU for you willingness to share information that can help others understand.

3.    THE PERFECT GIFT

Valentine’s Day is upon us, so here’s are some “points to ponder” if you’ve struggled with what to give this year. Consider it my holiday gift to YOU!

The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness;
To an opponent, tolerance;
To a friend, your heart;
To your child, a good example;
To your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you;
To yourself, respect;
To all men, charity.

4.    WEBSITES TO CHECK OUT

NOTE: SOME OF THESE LINKS MAY BE INACTIVE AS THIS MATERIAL WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN SOME TIME AGO.

I’m an surfer, yes I admit it…and here are some sites I’ve discovered, or been led to, that you may also enjoy:

http://www.numberquest.com   This site features free numerology reports that are very interesting reading. It’s fun, too.

http://www.lotusproject.com/   This site is a great one for finding out about holistic and wellness retreats. Take a look if you’d like a reaaaallllyyyy relaxing vacation this year.

http://thenewage.com/astromag/atroot.html   I’m not much of an astrologer—I can barely read a chart—but this site can help you if you’d like to learn more. It features lots of articles, a column, and a free Astrology 101 online class.

5.    WISE WORDS & SAGE SAYINGS

Here’s a favorite poem by William Wordsworth that reminds us of Who We Are. (Remember those daffodils, a host of golden ones? Maybe, like me, you had to memorize that poem in the 8th grade? That’s the guy!)

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting,
The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star,
Hath had elsewhere its setting
And cometh from afar:
Not in entire forgetfulness
And not in utter nakedness
But trailing clouds of glory do we come...
--William Wordsworth

Now for a completely different energy, here’s one from Mae West, who had a spiritual side to her nature, too. She was a visitor to Lily Dale, a Spiritualist retreat in Chautauqua County, NY, where I’m a registered medium.

Love thy neighbor--and if he happens to be tall, debonair and devastating it will be that much easier.
--Mae West
